Paternity Testing in Penang

order

Penang under the British Empire became a bustling port with every kind of ethnicity, mostly Chinese who flocked here to create new wealth, and a fascinating fusion of East and West cultures. After the collapse of the Empire, Penang wilted somewhat and has only recently become the ‘Silicon Valley’ of Malaysia; but it is hard to see this hidden high tech world as it is hardly visible. The capital Georgetown and its decaying grandeur is a spicy, colourful melting pot with simmering temperatures.

Soak up the sun on a beautiful beach or explore the nooks and crannies of Georgetown. Feast on the delicacies from the hawker street stalls and shop even at night at the market. A visit to the Tropical Spice Garden which can be found on the road from Teluk Bahang to Batu Ferringhi is an oasis of fragrance. Also, if you are out and about, get to the Penang National Park: with 2300 hectares of land this park has a lot to offer. Only recently attaining status of national park it is the smallest in Malaysia but does not disappoint.

The clan jetties are on the backwater and are home to the five main Chinese clans who used to make a living from the fishing here. The young have moved out and the older generation still live here enjoying the laid back life of living on the jetties. A reminder that this place was once an important maritime port for Chinese pioneer immigrants who arrived here a century ago.

The Flea markets in Pasar Malam and the modern shopping malls are also worth a visit. From Lorong Kulit and Rope walk.

Architecture-wise, have a look at the Cheong Fatt Tze mansion which was built in the 1880s and is a huge 38-room palace filled with antiquities and exquisite furniture and paintings.

There is a tour around Penang city which is worth taking; the city has the largest number of colonial-era buildings. Public and private homes are on the visitors must see list and make excellent viewing.

As far as food goes if you like Chinese then you’re in for a treat, Teksen, has been recently re-branded and stepped up from its gritty roots and now offers a stylish backdrop for a Chinese buffet.
